CD Release Show (Nov. 24) to Benefit One-In-Teen

On Monday, November 24, 2008, Gordon Roque will unveil his brand new, debut album “Seahorses” during his CD Release Show at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville, TN.  This album has been over a year in the making, and almost half of the funds used to pay for its production was donated by individuals from all across the United States.  It is a body of work born out of a genuine spirit of kindness and generosity.

In keeping with this spirit, Roque has decided to donate a large portion of the proceeds from the CD Release Show to a Nashville-based non-profit organization called One-In-Teen Youth Services.  The mission of this organization is to provided a safe space for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth, between the ages of 14 and 21, to be themselves.  Their basic services are free and are run completely by volunteers.  They serve the greater middle Tennessee area.

The work that this organization does is incredibly vital to the youth they serve.  Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth are often shunned and ridiculed by their own families, friends, and communities purely on the basis of their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.  One-In-Teen is a safe and affirming space for these youth to openly express their feelings and build the confidence they need to face the world.

Roque was a part of a similar organization (Time Out Youth in Charlotte, NC) when he was a gay youth and gives it all the credit for instilling the courage and personal strength with which he lives his life today.

If you would like to help Gordon Roque and to support this truly important organization, just come on out to 3rd and Lindsley on Nov. 24, 2008.   It is going to be a fun and lively show with a full band.  The cover will be $7.00, and a very large portion of the procceeds will be freely and kindly given to One-In-Teen Youth Services.

At his CD Release show, Roque will have come full circle by giving back to the essence of where he came from.  The spirit of kindness and generosity continues on from there.
